Pick of the Day

Two posts in one week! What's next?! Armaggedon!!!

Anyway, yeah, working gets in the way of blogging - but not this week. Today I went to Sephora to pick up my Diorshow mascara (see previous posts), and another fab find - Frederic Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Man, I developed a bad relationship with hairspray way back when feathered bangs and "wings" were cool. No matter how much Rave or Finesse I used, my hair just wouldn't go. Ever since then, I've had nightmares of sticky, nasty clumps of hair and the pain of combing that crap out.
Enter Frederic Fekkai, personal savior. This spray is light and invisible, yet holds the living daylights out of your style. I use it to hold curl and side-swept bangs, and its perfect for those causes. Try it. $23 for a talllllll can, or you can try it purse-size for $10 (personally, I think you might as well go for the whole deal = better buy).

Next topic:

Benefit Dandelion. I recommended this to a friend a while back, and she still uses it... practically three years later. Everyone talks about pink cheeks and that natural glow - well this is like a universal wish-granter for that kind of look. The wide brush allows good distribution of color, and the color somehow magically works on ANYONE. Its amazing.

I'm In Love

Remember how I just posted about Mat Kearney and said I'd write again after the show? I haven't been able to wait to do just that. Ok, so Mat Kearney was good, but by the time he played I was kind of tired and annoyed with the club/vibe, which was kind of too bad. BUT, I couldn't get home fast enough to buy THIS cd:

This is Rocco DeLuca, the guy who I quoted on Friday about the blues, and I was totally right that he was good. Not even good, he was AMAZING. I just bought the album from iTunes and am recommending it to everyone, strongly. DeLuca is on Kiefer Sutherland's new label/studio venture, along with Ron Sexsmith and Lifehouse. The first thing I said to Mike was that he sounds like Jeff Buckley with a little different flavor, not quite as dramatic, but still very delicious. A huge part of Rocco's sound is his Dobro playing which just rocks. Check out these tracks first: Gift, Swing Low, and Dope. iTunes' blurb about this guy compares him to Buckley, Robert Plant, Jack White, and Ian Astbury. I love this album, this singer, and I can't wait until the next record. Check this guy out, buy a CD ($10 is a DEAL, let me tell you), and if you get the chance, get to a show - give the guy some support, you won't be sorry, I promise.

Shameless Plug

I've been modest long enough, and now I'm done with it. Right here, right now, I am going to plug my own Faithful Dog artist, Ms. Caitlin Frame. I've been working with Caitlin and her band for about 7 months now, and they're just getting awesomer and awesomer, and so I think its about time that you went and listened to their stuff. She's got a new EP coming out in May and its reallllly good. I like it. And I don't like a whole lot these days. She's playing around Massachusetts, Vermont, NYC and Maine over the coming months. Do yourself a favor, I swear, bookmark her website, add her to your MySpace friends. Keep this one on your radar. Value added: music for every mood, all in one place. What else could you possibly ask for?

New Music Time

Yes, it is time for new tunes. Brought to you today, this fine Friday the 13th, because tonight I am going to a live concert for a change! It takes a lot these days for me to want to spend that ridiculous amount of money through Ticketmaster to go to a show, so this one's gonna be good. Mat Kearney.
Nice chin, huh? His music is even nicer! Ooh, and I just read that he's on The View this morning - not sure how I feel about that, but what can you do? So, he's making the rounds of all the talk shows, and he's recently had a song featured on the show "Jericho" (which I've never seen but who cares). Think of a voice that sounds like Chris Martin meets Adam Duritz. Its pretty sweet and he writes songs that have a mix of acoustic pop and funky beats/je ne sais quoi. Well, I do sais quoi, but I'm not sure how to explain it. It just makes me bop a little in my desk chair. The openers tonight are a Brit band called The Feeling, and some dude Rocco DeLucca who I think might also be British? Got this quote off of his website: "The blues died when they took the 'fuck' out of it." Based on that quote, I think I'm going to really like this guy. I'll let you know after I see him tonight.
